Coming Soon-- the James 1:27 Project

Home repairs for widows and single mothers. Real skills for young men.

We are building something we believe the community needs. We train young men (ages 12-18) in practical hands on skills, responsibility, work ethic, and the heart of the Father. Then we take those skills into the community to serve widows and single mothers with simple home maintenance projects.Young men need purpose. Widows and single mothers need practical help. The James 1:27 Project

Core Story And Mission:

Our goal is to cultivate the heart of the Father in the next generation by teaching them to serve with their hands.

We have an epidemic of aimless boys who lack true identity and purpose. They don’t need more activities or sporting events to attend. They need to build confidence in who they are and whose they are.Nothing builds confidence in a young boy more than realizing that he can create. While time and entropy destroy, we teach young men that they can push back against that—to build, to repair, and to restore. Our goal is to cultivate the heart of the Father in the next generation by teaching them to plan on paper, locate material pieces, and participate in the transformation of something old into something new. This is not just a handyman program. This is not just a youth activity. This is a discipleship and service movement built on the heart of God.Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly commands His people to care for the widow, the fatherless, the poor, and the vulnerable. This is not a side issue in the Bible. It is one of the clearest ways God measures whether His people truly understand His heart. In the Old Testament, God commands His people not to afflict widows or the fatherless. He tells them to leave food in the fields for them. He commands justice for them. He warns leaders who neglect them. He calls Himself a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. Then James says it plainly:“Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble.”James 1:27That word “visit” does not mean stopping by to say hello. It means to look after. To care for. To come near with help. That word “trouble” means affliction, pressure, distress, and hardship. So James is not describing sentimental religion. He is describing practical love.Love that shows up.Love that brings tools.Love that mows the lawn, paints the room, fixes the steps, cleans the yard, and helps carry the burden.Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love God and love our neighbor. But we cannot claim to love God while ignoring what He loves.God loves the widow.God loves the fatherless.God loves the vulnerable.God loves the single mother trying to hold everything together.God loves the young man who needs to be formed, trained, challenged, and called to a higher purpose. The James 1:27 Project brings those two needs together.Widows and single mothers receive practical help.Young men learn the heart of the Father through service.

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."- James 1:27

Fueling the Mission: Money, Materials, and Referrals

We have the young men ready to work, and we have the tools in hand. Now, we need the resources and the locations to make this test pilot a reality. To launch The James 1:27 Project in the Oakland area, we rely on neighbors who can provide financial backing, donate building materials, or point us toward the local women who need our help the most.

  • 💰 Financial Support: Help us fund the operational costs of this pilot project. Every dollar goes directly toward getting this mission off the ground.

  • 🪵 Materials & Supplies: We need lumber, hardware, fasteners, and building supplies. If you have surplus materials or run a local supplier and can offer discounts, we want to talk.

  • 🏡 Suggest a Widow or Single Mother: We need to find the right projects. If you know a widow or single mom within 30 miles of Oakland who has a porch, door, or home repair issue that she can't tackle alone, put us in touch.

  • 🙋‍♂️ General Volunteering: You don't need to be a licensed contractor or have specialized construction skills to help. We need extra adults to help transport materials, provide food/water for the workdays, handle logistics, or simply stand alongside the boys to encourage them as they work.
